Enchantments
The Enchantments are considered by many to be the crown jewel of Washington State. I found myself there in the summer of 2017 with five friends to backpack and climb some alpine routes.
The hike into "The Core," or the main high-alpine basin, is a notorious slogfest and, with packs loaded down with camping, photography, and trad gear, several rest breaks and quick dips were necessary. I've rarely been so satisfied to make camp as I was on our first day of this trip.
While we spent plenty of time lazing around camp and watching the goats, our main objective was a 4-pitch, 5.7 trad route up Prusik Peak. The iconic fin of granite certainly challenged us rookie climbers, but the view from the top calmed any remaining nerves and earned us our camp beers.
